ISLAMIC HERITAGE TOUR - Istanbul to Cairo – 11 Nights / 12 Days
Another exciting trip from Mystellar. With the first 6 Days in Istanbul we will be paying close attention to medieval and contemporary understandings of Islam in Turkey. Today’s modern Turkey has a long and rich Islamic tradition stretching back to the dawn of the Seljuk period and Ottoman Empire. The country has many historically and culturally important mosques present throughout the cities and towns, including many in Istanbul. The tour will focus on the city of Istanbul when in Turkey (ancient Constantinople), considered among the most impressive and beautiful of ancient cities in the world; a meeting place of the East and the West. You will then continue your journey in Cairo. In Cairo you will feel as though you are walking through a time machine where you are transported back to Cairo's past Islamic heritage; to a world of ancient mosques and 1,500 hundred year old markets; to medieval forts and the city that was once Salah ad-Din's.
